Maggie J., B. Haskins and Third Floor

My wife, daughter and I had the privilege of attending the Clanton Peach Festival Friday Night. We went to hear a young CrossPointer, Maggie J., play her guitar and sing. If you look closely, her back up singer and keyboard player is our own B. Haskins. Maggie did an awesome job. She sang to a very large crowd and did not appear nervous one bit.

Later in the evening, B. Haskins and his band Third Floor “got after it”
with more than 90 minutes of continuous music. It was awesome!

Watching B. and his band gave me an idea. What if CrossPoint had a band night on a Sunday night where we gathered with our blankets and lawn chairs to hear our own band plus Third Floor play some great music? I think it will work.

B’s band is enormously talented. When I ran the idea past some of B’s band members, they said, “Let’s do it.”

As soon as summer passes, the weather starts to cool, we are going to have our own outdoor concert at CrossPoint. We will keep you posted.

Stop the press! Is that John Coon dancing to Brick House? The Clanton Peach Festival will never be the same.

Outdoor concert sounds like an awesome idea. How cool would it be to not only involve CrossPoint, but other area churches?

Brian is more talented than we deserve. Truly a Godsend!

A lady sitting by Larry and I that night asked me before the concert if I had ever heard B. Haskins sing before. Of course, I told her he was my minister of music. I pointed down the way and told her that Ryan was my pastor. When John made his dancing appearance, I leaned over and told the lady that he was one of our fine deacons. She just laughed. We did have a great night that night. Josh and Mark Dunn and George Logan also backed up Maggie. We have a lot of talented people in our church. Of course, we were proud grandparents that night.

A night of outdoor singing would be great!!!

I agree with both Matt and Gay! That would be great! How about if we invite not only other churches but whole other communities?? We could post signs in Springville, Odenville, Trussville, and all their suburbs! What a chance to reach out to others! Some who would never come to church just might show up and see us “Christians” having fun! God might even show up and change some lives! Besides—I want to John dancing to Brickhouse!

That sounds great!!! I cannot wait.
We are blessed to have so much talent at Crosspoint. With the different Bands, the Choir (I heard they did an “Awesome Job” Sunday) and the Praise Teams. God has blessed us with the talent we have.
Oh by the way do not forget John Coons can cook and sing too!!! John leave the dancing alone!!
We cannot wait for outdoor concert!
I know Charlie and Tonya are Proud Parents too!!
